The Greater Copenhagen Fire Department extends it’s contract with Incendium for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRN) streaming support.

“A couple of seconds of live real-time video can provide a clear view on the direction of a situation that cannot be shared with a still image or by radio communication as we have relied on until now” points out Incident Commander Kristian Levy, Greater Copenhagen FD. “Video utilizes the magnificent human capability to receive a lot of visual information, and help us improve our communication.”

The primary task of Greater Copenhagen Fire Department CBRN-unit is to handle accidents involving dangerous substances. The firefighters in the chemical units are specially trained to deal with accidents involving dangerous substances including (among others) toxic, corrosive, oxidizing and flammable gases, liquids and solids.

Today chemicals are found everywhere. Manufacturers are one source of hazardous materials but there are many others, including service stations, hospitals and hazardous materials waste sites. Hazards can occur during production, storage, transportation, use or disposal and the Greater Copenhagen community are at risk if a chemical is used unsafely or released in harmful amounts into the environment where the community live, work or play.

If an incident occurs a quick response from the fire department is crucial and being able to make a dynamic risk assessment based on the live images seen and mobilize the appropriate resources to deal with the incident will strengthen the response.

The IncidentShare app by Incendium will allow the CBRN-responders, whether already on-site or on their way to an incident, to stream secure video images with low latency of what they are responding to or are already dealing with. This allows them to make informed risk based decisions on the hazards they are facing.

“I am very glad to see that the Greater Copenhagen Fire Department are satisfied with our streaming solution and once again extends our agreement. This proves that our focus on secure, reliable, and user friendly streaming solutions meets the expectations and demands of our customers”, says Asger Plæhn, Incendium Sales & Marketing Director.
