Last week, the new radio network (110-nødnett) for fire and rescue services was deployed in Hordaland, Norway. The opening on Wednesday was marked by an exercise in Kvamstotunnelsen, Dale center in Vaksdal.
Fire and rescue services in both Osterøy and Bergen is now, along with the rest of the county, working on the new emergency network.
In the tunnel, which lies on the road between Vaksdal and Bergsdalen, a passenger car caught fire. The crews had extinguished the fire, and along the way they had open communication lines between themselves and the 110 call center in Bergen.
The fire department also used their drone (UAV) during the drill and streamed live images from the incident. At 110 Command Central in Bergen rescue leaders and invited guests followed the exercise through moving pictures on a large screen on the wall provided by Incedium’s streaming platform.
“There is no doubt that new technologies provide tremendous opportunities, for the emergency services”.
